I have multiple virtual mint mate 19.3 systems on the 1 gig drive. I want to install mate 20 but am thoroughly confused as to how the format process will affect my other virtual system if I proceed with the format question which has now added a statement that all existing formats will be deleted and two new ones created. Is this speaking only of the new 20 gig drive I am creating under VMWare or of the entire hard drive? I am a relative newbie having self-taught Linux Mint for about 10 months.

@David

There is not an alternate name, as you can see, the use as an option shows swap area. Try to read more about the swap area in Linux/Unix.

I have tried to follow this process to clean load mint 19 with mint 20 but I lose it at the partition step.

I do not get the option for a swap partition

Is there an alternate name for the partition?

@Darren,

If you are installing Linux Mint manually on the UEFI mode enabled system, then you need to create an EFI System Partition (ESP) with size 256MB as the FAT32 filesystem.
